In a recent edition of XL Magazine (a magazine targeted at entrepreneurship and motivation), William Reed, an author-speaker and master trainer in guerilla marketing based in Tokyo Japan recommends 10 skills that will enhance your online presence:

  1. Ability to write captivating titles, captions and blog entries.
  2. Good voice and video presence.
  3. Links to your media appearances and articles.
  4. Ability to capture critical moments on camera or video.
  5. Using music to inspire and engage.
  6. Being connected to important people and events.
  7. Coming from the heart.
  8. Common courtesy in communications.
  9. Sense of humour and imagination.
  10. Living a life worth sharing

Skills 2, 3, 4 and 6 share a common theme: you need a certain level of extrovertness. If you have difficulty in this department, my personal experience is that practice + a good support base to turn to (friends, loved ones, family) can help overcome that shyness (which can be negative in this context).
