Readers and customers appreciate Site Intelligence (SI). Here’s how I measure SI:
- Is the first thing I see on my site having a positive return based on a strategy?
- Does my site have a brand that I’m willing to put on my t-shirt?
- Can I get to key information which is expected from my site easily?
Here’s how to answer these questions on a blog or a service site:
- Service oriented sites should display a face. Blogs should recommend articles and have the ability to resurrect old ones. The most eye-catching feature on the site should give a favorable return.
- If the blog were a person, he wouldn’t look too different from the blogger.
- Blogs tend to clutter themselves. KISS. Hook your readers by allowing them to read off your posts from the main page first time. Use language that is concise and to the point. Try keeping your posts so short that each one fits into a single frame window.
As a bonus tip, sites should also be targeted, and try best to treat regular visitors from new ones differently. In my next article, I will share with you two powerful applications that do just that.
